- Same material presented in the same manner may not be beneficial
- Viewing recorded lectures does not allow students to ask questions
- Supplemental Instruction Leaders and tutors can support instructor content by viewing lectures with student(s)
- Students can focus on the lecturer and content if they know they can supplement notes later
- Video format allows student to focus on a particular area or repeat a video segment
- Working with ESL mentors to translate some of the content
Student comments have been positive about the recorded lectures.
Students often have complex lives and missing class is at times not avoidable. The continuity of instruction that recorded lectures creates can reduce some of the frustration that students experience when they have to miss class and are not exposed to foundation concepts needed to understand later material.
