Why Lecture Capture

I began exploring capturing lectures while using Wimba in the Spring of 2009.

• Started by using the archive feature in Wimba, use was limited.

 

• Students liked the flexibility it offered if they missed a class and being able to review material before a test.

 

• Screencast and Camtasia allow flash videos to be used allowing students to easily advance through the recorded lecture.

While students have always been responsible for material missed, this ensures that they have access to the same material presented in class.

• Students that miss class can view the material and be held responsible for the content that is presented in the classroom.

 

• Students needing assistance understanding the material, often needed to seek tutoring assistance.

 

• Because of limited budgets, access to student support services may be limited.
